Q. How many students are going to attend?
Historically the Symposium has attracted approximately 300 students, and we are hoping to exceed the great turnout from years prior. The Symposium is open to all undergraduate UNC Kenan-Flagler students. Registration may also be opened to related majors, like Economics and Computer Science, should available spots remain.
Q. How many students per session will I see? Per representative?
The number of students in each session varies with the industry focus and the timeslot. The number of representatives in each session will also vary with the industry, making it difficult to give a finite number. However, the sessions are structured in a way to give as much time for interaction between representatives and students as possible.
Q. When will I get the resume book?
The resume book will be organized and sent out to the attending companies on Wednesday, September 24th.
Q. How much face time are we going to have with students? With Juniors? Seniors?
There are four main opportunities where company executives can get face time with students:
Blue Zone Event: Platinum Sponsors will be able to hand select students based on their resumes for a targeted networking event on the Thursday Night before the Main Event. This will involve both juniors and seniors.
Industry Sessions: All sponsors other than the “Networking Sponsors” will be allowed one or more representatives into the industry sessions. These sessions will begin with a UNC Kenan-Flagler Faculty Member introducing the topic (e.g., Finance, Consulting and Marketing) followed by sponsor representatives rotating around the session to interact with students. Sophomores and juniors will be attending these events, and seniors will have the option of attending these events or going to senior specific sessions.
Main Event: The main event is held at the storied Dean Dome, home of the Tar Heels Men’s Basketball Team. The face time hits a peak in the afternoon, where Sponsors will have tables set-up around the concourse and students will be free to approach any company they choose. The main event on September 19, 2014 also includes breakfast, lunch, and a keynote speaker.
Diversity Networking Event: This year we are adding a Diversity Networking Event for Friday Morning. The Event will allow companies to interact with minority students at UNC Kenan-Flagler. Platinum Sponsors will receive one representative for the Diversity focused event at no additional cost. All sponsorship levels below Platinum will have the opportunity to participate in the Diversity focused event for $500 per Diversity representative.

Thursday, September 18th (Platinum Sponsors Only): The Blue Zone Networking Event will be held in the Blue Zone of Kenan-Memorial Stadium, home of the Tar Heel Football Team. The address is:

Q. What time does it start/end?
The Thursday Blue Zone Event for Platinum Sponsors is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.
The Friday Main Event is scheduled to begin with breakfast/registration from 8:45 a.m. – 9:25 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m.
The Diversity Networking Event is scheduled to begin with a dedicated breakfast/registration from 7:45 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. and end at 9:15 a.m..

Q. Does the representative need to be there all day?
Representatives of each sponsorship level other than the “Networking” sponsorship level are encouraged to stay until the end of the main event on Friday. Networking Sponsors are encouraged to attend from lunch until the end of the concourse event on Friday. However, we understand that some employer representatives might need to step away for a meeting in the middle of the day.
Q. How many representatives can attend?
The number of representatives allowed for each company is determined by the company’s sponsorship package. The sponsorship breakdown sheet, which can be found on the website or attached to the Symposium Invitation email, can answer any questions related to sponsorship levels. Please remember that a “representative” means ANY PERSON IN ATTENDANCE FROM A COMPANY.
Q. What other [industry, i.e., Finance] companies are going to be there?
The Symposium tries to include a diverse group of companies to expose students to as many industries as possible. These industries include Finance, Consulting, Accounting, Investment Banking, Sales/Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Tech and others.
Q. What materials do I need to send?
There are no physical materials required for a company to bring for this event. However, if you need to send items ahead that are too large to carry we can accommodate that. Please contact your Symposium Core Committee representative to arrange such a delivery.
Q. Is our [company] name going to be posted anywhere?
Different sponsorship levels receive different levels of exposure. Click here to see sponsorship levels along with the different exposure packages.
Q. I’m only interested in interacting with seniors. Can I sponsor bronze and only talk with them?
Although seniors can elect to attend a general industry session, there are senior specific sessions throughout the day that will only be available to the Silver Sponsorship level and above.
